Meet champion athlete Derval O'Rourke at NDC's Ploughing Stand H234 20 September 2011 Athy Co Kildare

Champion athlete Derval O’Rourke will be at The National Dairy Council stand to meet members of the public on the first day of the National Ploughing Championships in Athy, Co. Kildare.

Visitors to the NDC stand (No. 234, Row H, Block 3) on Tuesday 20th September, 2011 will have a chance to meet Derval O’Rourke between 11.00am and 3.00pm. Twice during the day (11.30am and 1.45pm) visitors can also hear Derval in discussion with Dr. Catherine Logan, Nutrition Manager at the NDC. It is a chance for anyone of any age with an interest in sport or general fitness - at any level - to hear about Derval’s top training tips as she prepares to represent Ireland in the 2012 Olympic Games; and to get tips about the role of diet and nutrition for athletes training and competing at any level.

The NDC interest is fuelled by the growing awareness of the role milk can play in sports nutrition, supported by scientific research pointing to the way the natural components in milk could play an important part in hydration and in muscle recovery during training and competitive sports.

The National Dairy Council expects to have other well known athletes on its stand for the remaining days of the National Ploughing Championships* to answer questions about their training routines and diet (* for Twitter updates, follow @ndc_ie - daily timetable available on the NDC stand).
