Explore Mind Over Matter at Health & Wellbeing Event
Counsellor and Communications Consultant Fiona Hoban, is to address the Health and Wellbeing evening jointly organised by Donegal Creameries and the National Dairy Council which will take place in Letterkenny. Ms Hoban will offer her expert guidance on life skills and stress management at the event on Thursday 25th March in The Mount Errigal Hotel. The event is open to the public free of charge (doors open 7.30pm), with proceeds from a raffle on the evening going to Donegal Action for Cancer Care.
In a presentation entitled “Healthy Mind Healthy Body”, Fiona Hoban will be challenging the audience to think about how emotional needs should be balanced as part of your health and wellbeing. “Nature has programmed us with emotional as well as physical needs. If our emotional needs are not met in balanced ways, we can find ourselves stressed, anxious, depressed or even angry,” says Ms. Hoban.
At the Health and Wellbeing evening on 25th March, Ms Hoban will discuss how we can “audit” our emotional needs to find out if there are areas which we could adjust in order to improve our wellbeing and happiness.
“It is healthy for all of us to think about areas such as our self esteem, emotional connections, achievements and expectations - or whether we feel in control of our lives,” says Ms Hoban. “It could be that a person simply needs something to challenge them or needs to feel appreciated – but awareness is key, because it always invites choice.”
“Diet and exercise are critical to our health but our own personal happiness is an equally important part of our wellbeing, says Ms Hoban.
Fiona Hoban is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (MA Philosophy & Sociology). Originally from Castlebar, she runs a private counselling practice in Westport and is a part-time lecturer with the National Counselling Institute of Ireland. Fiona delivers Communications and Life Skills training to both public and private sector clients.
The NDC & Donegal Creameries Health & Wellbeing evening will also include discussions by independent nutritionist Paula Mee and facial and make up demonstrations by Carmel Sheerin and Sylvia Sylvia from the Mount Errigal Hotel Beauty Salon.
