Explore a Positive Approach to Wellbeing - At Free Health & Wellbeing Event

Fiona Hoban (pictured) will be speaking in Donegal's Mill Park Hotel on 12th May at the free health & wellbeing evening organised by the NDC & Donegal Creameries.
Counsellor & Communications Consultant Fiona Hoban, is returning to Co. Donegal by popular demand to address the Health and Wellbeing evening jointly organised by Donegal Creameries and the National Dairy Council in the Mill Park Hotel, Donegal town on 12th May.
Ms Hoban will offer her expert guidance on life skills and stress management at the event which is open to the public free of charge (doors open 7.30pm), with proceeds from a raffle on the evening going to North West Rehab.
“Many of us would experience stress during our everyday lives – although in the current climate, recession and economic challenges have caused additional pressures for many people,” says Fiona Hoban. At the Health & Wellbeing evening, Fiona Hoban will discuss the concept of “mindfulness” - the practice of bringing awareness and acceptance to what is happening now.
Awareness Creates Choice
“Diet and exercise are critical to our health but our own personal happiness is an equally important part of our wellbeing, says Ms Hoban. “It is healthy for all of us to think about our self esteem, emotional connections, achievements and expectations – or whether we feel in control of our lives. When we allow ourselves the space and opportunity to change how we feel and think, we are then in a position to make better life choices.”
“If we want to be as healthy and well as possible, we need to manage our emotional as well as our physical needs throughout our various life stages. If our emotional needs are not met in balanced ways, we can find ourselves stressed, anxious, depressed or even angry,” says Fiona.
Originally from Castlebar, Fiona Hoban runs a private counselling practice in Westport and is a part-time lecturer with the National Counselling Institute of Ireland. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin (MA Philosophy & Sociology), Fiona delivers Communications and Life Skills training to both public and private sector clients.
